Design of smart products and services and data-driven strategic analysis consists of 2 integrated and complementary parts:
The Design and Development of Smart Products and Services part aims to provide students with an operational approach to design. The focus of the course is on the actual use of the design tools already learnt during the course of study and on the learning of new tools in management and design. Students are also encouraged to create new formal tools, which derive from the application of real cases presented in the classroom.
The Data-Driven Strategic Analysis part aims to provide students with tools, methodologies and logics for strategic analysis; It makes use of Harvard Business School cases and it is based on highly interactive classroom sessions.
The approach followed during the lessons aims to present case studies to stimulate problem-setting and problem-solving skills, leading to increase the ability in formalizing complex problems that needs for a multidisciplinary knowledge (from the economic-management areas to those of design and data science).
The aim of the course is to complete, systematize and apply concepts and tools (some of which were also studied during the previous years), to prepare students for a constantly evolving labour market which requires engineers ready to enter the company with the right competences and mindset.
