3D graphics for cultural heritage
Code 475AA
Credits 6
Learning outcomes
Educational Goals
Providing the tools for a correct and meaningful use of image-based and 3D technologies in the context of cultural heritage. The course will introduce the three-dimensional scanning technologies and the possibilities they offer as a tool for documentation, for supporting the restoration and creating material for information dissemination.
Description
Modeling vs. Acquisition. Reconstructions and modeling assumptions.
Acquisition. Image based technologies. Landscapes. PTM and Real Time Imaging (image re-lighting). 3D Technology - 3D scanning, 3D scaning hardware.Tecniche Optical active techniques, triangulation and time of flight laser. Passive scanning techniques, photogrammetry and automated techniques. Pipeline processing of scan data, from raw data to the 3D model. Color and appearance management. Use of 3D data. Presentation and archiving. Support to restoration. Laboratory: open source, free or low cost acquisition tools. Experience in processing of 3D data. Reconstruction from photographs.
