Learning outcomes

Acquire knowledge about the techniques and the strategies for management of patients with varying degrees of periodontal disease, with a gradual involvement in: the compilation of patient’s periodontal anamnesis; non-surgical periodontal procedures; causal therapy, scaling and root planing with integrated manual, mechanical instrumentation and the use of new technologies. Follow-up of the periodontal patient.
Acquire knowledge and skills to carry out prevention of risk factors associated with periodontal disease, with particular attention to changes in lifestyle of the population at risk: in particular, tobacco control counseling. Acquire knowledge of techniques and strategies for prevention, treatment and follow-up of individuals and children with special clinical conditions. Motivate parents of children and adolescents in the application of fissure sealing and fluoride prophylaxis. Perform sealing of pits and dimples.
Perform programming of prevention interventions in patients with special needs, institutionalized or not, in elderly in social care residences or not and in patients from underserved communities.
