Learning outcomes

The Laboratory of Near Eastern Archaeology is committed to the study of the material evidence of ancient Near Eastern cultures, offering students the opportunity to become acquainted with the archaeological field work practices. Course includes intruductory lessons, practical exercises and seminars. LAVO (acronym for Laboratory of Near Eastern Archaeology, in Italian) introduces students to field research and working practices in use in the Near Eastern archaeological field. The student will be able to recognize and contextualize pottery sherds from various regions of the ancient Near East and chronological horizons and have an overview of the working practices in use on the field by archaeological teams. The course provides students with practical and theoretical introductory training for ceramic analysis and basic knowledge needed to take actively part in Near Eastern archaeological teams.
