Learning outcomes

The course is an introduction to the field of Information Visualization. The Information Visualization produces a visual and
interactive representation of data, including abstract data, to reinforce human cognition and stimulate knowledge of the
internal structures of data and causal relationships in them.

Applications (scientific visualization, medical, etc … the display of abstractions).
Visualization as a form of communication and educational support.
Types of data and methodologies / acquisition technologies.
Methods of organizing data.
Visualization techniques.
The process of interpretation of the visualization.
Design principles.
Methodologies / technologies to interact with the visualized data.
Analysis of specific case studies.
Information Landscapes: generalities and examples
Laboratory of Information Landscapes (design, authoring, interaction, exploitation, immersive rendering).
