Credits 3

Learning outcomes

The course aims to deepen the experimental knowledge underlying the preparation and validation of gene and cell therapies that constitute an emerging field of biomedicine (Training objective 1). Particular emphasis will be given to in-depth studies for the preparation of nucleic acids, of stem cells also genetically modified (genomic editing) to be used for study, diagnostic and therapeutic purposes. A further objective will be to help students understand the new technologies, including preparations, necessary to make therapeutic and diagnostic applications usable at the level of the pharmaceutical market in terms of quantity and safety (Training objective 2). Practical examples in the laboratory will allow the student to acquire skills and familiarity in the experimental design underlying some of these therapeutic approaches (Training objective 3).
