Learning outcomes
The course will provide the basic knowledge of organic chemistry and connections with biological processes. In particular will provide knowledge on the nomenclature of organic compounds, the stereochemistry, the relationship between structure and reactivity of the main functional groups and the main reaction mechanisms with particular reference to certain classes of biomolecules such as lipids, carbohydrates, and alpha-aminoacids in Biochemistry, Medicinal Chemistry and Pharmacology. The student must know and understand the basic principles of organic chemistry understand and rationalize organic reactions in terms of reaction mechanism, with particular reference to the main methods of synthesis. You will be able to apply their knowledge on the chemistry of organic molecules to the solution of problems in the context of the life sciences
