Learning outcomes

* Special Pharmacology Module
The course aims to illustrate the pharmacodynamics, pharmacokinetics and toxicological profiles of the main classes of drugs and to discuss the main indications, contraindications and interactions of each class of drugs. The course also aims to teach the fundamentals of the treatment of diseases.
* Clinical Pharmacology and Pharmacovigilance Module
The course aims to describe the various stages of drug development from pre-clinical
experimentation to their registration for clinical use, illustrating the principles that regulate the ethics committees for the testing of drugs in humans. The course also will illustrate the main available methodologies applied to the evaluation of drug safety, the European and Italian pharmacovigilance laws and summaries of special toxicities associated with some drug classes.
* The course of Biopharmaceutical aims to illustrate the factors (characteristics of the
active substance, excipients, containers, manufacturing processes of the dosage form, route
of administration) that affect the absorption, distribution, and elimination of active
substance when administered to the individual. The knowledge of the biopharmaceutical
aspects improves the therapeutic activity and / or optimizes the health effect of the final
product that could be reduced by poor absorption through the complex system of the
human barriers (membranes) and enzymatic degradation.
