Biochemical and molecular biology techniques for studying cellular responses to nutrients

Code 523EE
Credits 3

Learning outcomes

The course, lasting 26 hours (14 hours of frontal lessons- 2CFU + 15 hours laboratory practice-1 CFU), is finalized to introduce students to several fundamental biochemical and molecular techniques for investigating cellular responses. Methods to study biological samples (tissues or cell cultures) will be treated, both in terms of theory and practice to analyze products of lipid and glucose metabolism. Principal techniques will be direct to protein and lipids study (western blot, ELISA, HPLC), cell metabolism products (PCR, rt-PCR, real time qPCR), histological analysis of tissues (optic and fluorescence microscopy).
