Learning outcomes

The aim of the course is to explain and discuss the fundamental issues of the subject matter from multiple perspectives, by fostering critical learning through the knowledge of the main issues that are concerned with the current organization of our welfare system. Furthermore, the course intends to trigger a debate on possible changes by reflecting upon the management and implications of pandemic phaenomena through examples and the reference to research outcomes. The course will also touch upon the changes of the Health System, the transformation processes of the different health professions, the complexity of multiple analysis perspectives regarding organizational transformations, and the need for change of the hospital as an institution, in relation to territorial services' management and public health integration. The doctor-patient relationship will play a pivotal role, with a focus on the possible innovations brought in by narrative medicine, as well as on patients' empowerment and on the importance of communications processes related to the formation of public opinion. Finally, there will be a focus on the current vaccine issue, on trust, and on the complex dynamics of healthcare awareness and informed choices.
