Learning outcomes

Genetics. The purpose of the course is to provide students with the fundamental knowledge about the nature of the genetic material; processes and mechanisms of inheritance, mitotic and meiotic; expression, regulation and modification of the inherited genetic material at molecular, single organism, familiar or population level. The course will pursue the aims with the integration of laboratory activities in the context of genetic biotechnologies.
Genomics. The course aims to guide students to understand the key strategies and molecular techniques used to study whole genomes. The course includes theoretical and practical insights on advanced methods of sequencing, annotation, “in silico” analysis to study the role of genes and proteins through bioinformatics and computational biology.
