Learning outcomes

In this course we will critically analyze principles, tools, and goals of Cell Biotechnology.
The following topics will be considered: tools to study single cells (microscopy, flow cytometry, transcriptome analysis).
Cultures of primary and stable eukaryotic cells. Cellular senescence. Telomeres and telomerases. Tools to study conditional
gene expression. Main methodologies for gene transfer. Genome-editing technologies (CRISPR/Cas9). Adult and
embryonic stem cells. Techniques of somatic reprogramming: iPS cells. Direct reprogramming. Advanced systems of cell
culture: organoids. Cell therapy approaches and tissue engineering.
