Learning outcomes

Knowledge: the stages of formation, development and productivity of the "poly-phase" soil system and its protection from natural and anthropic degradation processes. The parameters of soil quality, as indicators for a more sustainable agriculture. The use of laboratory instruments for soil analysis.
Competences: to evaluate the physical, chemical and biological properties of the soil and the chemical and biological processes that take place, the interconnections between these processes as well as the methods for carrying out the chemical and biological analyzes related to the soil. Consider the main characteristics of the land on which production processes depend to develop fertilization interventions and design procedures for the recovery of degraded soils.
Skills: sampling soil with the right criteria, using the basic tools of a soil chemistry laboratory, identifying the most important chemical parameters and interpreting the results of an analysis sheet. Recognize the type of soil and address the issues related to the improvement of its fertility with interventions aimed at maintaining its quality over time.
