Plant Ecophysiology

Code 206EE
Credits 6

Learning outcomes

The course aims at providing the student with the fundamental concepts of plant ecophysiology; this knowledge is necessary for understanding the evolution of physiological traits of plants and the biochemical and molecular bases of their interactions with the environment.

Syllabus
Introduction. The responses of plants to the environment: basic principles. The acquisition of mineral nutrients: the dynamics of the elements in the soil and plastic responses of the plants to nutrient availability. Water relations. Regulation of water absorption, transport and transpiration in plants. Adaptation and acclimation to water deficiency. Ecophysiology of photosynthesis: responses to solar radiation and CO 2 . Photoinhibition. Study of chlorophyll fluorescence.
