Learning outcomes

The student who completes the course successfully, will be able to demonstrate a solid knowledge of the key issues related to Inorganic Chemistry, Coordination chemistry and to the general properties of Groups and Periods of the Periodic Table, mainly concerning transition metals, lanthanides and actinides. The course provides notions on the origin of the elements and the determination of the symmetry elements of a finite molecule. Some of the topics not fully examined in the General and Inorganic Chemistry course (ionic bond and inorganic aspects of redox, acid/base behaviour and solubility) will be presented here.
The course also approaches the key issues related to the systematic of transition elements, lanthanides and actinides presenting and describing the main characteristics of the elements.
