Learning outcomes

The course is intended to give the knowledge of the basic mechanisms of the plant life, by utilizing the knowledge acquired by the students in the courses of Botany, Inorganic Chemistry, Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry. Some arguments of the course are discussed thoroughly, while others are intended as an introduction for those who will go on to advanced studies in Plant Biology. The course starts with the study of the different roles of the water in the plants and then is focused on the photosynthesis, the hormones and the flowering regulation.
At the end of the course the student will be able to understand the basic molecular processes and functions of higher plants and the main characteristics of their growth and development.
