Learning outcomes

Educational objectives: The course is aiming to give to the students the fundamentals of geochemistry, focusing on environmental applications. These include an overview of the most commonly used experimental methods in environmental geochemistry, for a better understanding of the geochemical data when dealing with environmental applications.

Syllabus: Introduction to geochemistry; fundamental concepts and relationships; geochemical properties of the elements; the elemental distribution between coexisting phases in an ecosystem; introduction to the geochemistry of natural waters and to reaction-transport processes; introduction to the source and fate of potentially toxic elements
