The course aims at providing the basic principles to understand the more common production and transformation processes in the paper and board industry and the tanning industry. It will also deal with the main elements of chemical plants for the industrial manufactures.
The student will know the paper pulps, with emphasis on the fiber matter, its different types and refining processes. The student will also learn the morphology and classification of hides and skins and their chemical components, the synthetic layout of a tanning process and the environmental issues connected with it.
