The course aims to provide a good knowledge of the morpho-functional and eco-ethological aspects of insects under an evolutionary framework, as well as a systematic perspective on the main orders. The main methods of identification, sampling and study of some taxa of interest will be shown through lessons and practical experiences in the laboratory (e.g. through the use of dichotomous keys, dissection techniques, active and passive sampling methods). Importance will be given to some taxa of great ecological, economic and social importance, such as social insects.
