The course aims to provide knowledge of structure and function of microbial cell (prokaryotes and eukaryotes), of taxonomy and diversity of microorganisms (bacteria, fungi, yeasts), of physiology and ecology of the main microbial groups, and of the role played by microorganisms in biogeochemical cycles, soil fertility and food production.
