Learning outcomes

The course aims at providing the students with an in-depth knowledge of fluid machines and energy systems. After some basic notions on thermodynamics fundamentals, students will learn about the operating principles of the main energy conversion machines and plants. They will also learn to perform a preliminary design of these systems and face their regulation issues. In particular, the regulation of compressors, pumps, gas turbines, steam plants, internal combustion engines and wind turbines will be addressed. The purpose of the course is to provide students with the elements to address the problems of regulation of fluid machines and energy systems in a wide ranging perspective with consciousness of the involved thermo-fluid dynamic aspects.
