Credits 6

Learning outcomes

The student who successfully completes the course will be able to demonstrate a solid knowledge of the basic principles of breeding as a fundamental discipline for sustainable and productive agriculture also in climate change times. The main themes concern the genetics of quantitative traits, both classical and on a molecular basis, the genetic bases of control of reproduction in plants, the protocols of crop genetic improvement and the classical methods for inducing genetic variability in plants. The student will also be able to evaluate the possibility of using assisted evolution technologies for breeding purposes.
