Learning outcomes
The objective of the course is to provide basic knowledge on the functioning of monopolies and their regulation, on the functioning of oligopolistic competition, on the functioning and contrast of collusion.
At the end of the course students should:
- know how to interpret the main facts of the industrial world (dominant positions of large companies, market concentration, consequences of the entry of new competitors) based on the conceptual categories acquired in class;
- be able to read and interpret industrial economics reports at regional, national and international level;
- provide opinions and make qualitative forecasts on the effects that industrial policies can have on the dimensional growth of firms and on market concentration phenomena.
