The course will examine, with a historical long-run analysis, the birth and the development of social policies from the modern age to the contemporary societies, from the voluntary philanthropic behavior to the institutionalization of the welfare system. The goal is to enforce in students the necessary analytical and interpretative skills to understand the cultural and political specificities of different welfare models, and their characteristics.
