English is the official language (or one of the official languages) in many countries throughout the world. Furthermore, English is used as a means of communication by many people whose mother tongue is not English. It is only natural, therefore, that a good knowledge of English is now a desirable asset, and sometimes a necessity, in many professions. And it is for these reasons that English has a central role to play within the degree course, with the following being the main overall objectives: consolidation of the knowledge acquired in previous studies, typically during middle and high school; improvement of communication skills, as regards both the written and spoken language; familiarity with the language which characterizes some of the disciplines and thematic areas studied in the Department of Political Sciences, with a particular emphasis on the international context.
