Learning outcomes
The course aims to provide the tools needed to develop a cultural analysis of social phenomena.
By the end of the course, students will be able to:
1. distinguish between different meanings of the concept of culture and critically analyse the presuppositions and implications of each with a special focus on phenomena of cultural pluralization and relativism, and on the socio-cultural dichotomy inclusion/exclusion;
2. make full use of current sociological approaches to analyse the relationships between culture and
society, with particular regard to the socio-cultural and economic background of the contemporary society;
3. observe and interpret processes of everyday life and practices as sharing production of meanings.
