The course will illustrate the main topics of discussion, including the relationship between education and society, the socialization processes and its interpretation from different theoretical models, the process of identity formation, etc. By the end of the course, students will be able to: 1. Critically discuss the various agents of socialization and of their role in socialization process; make full use of current sociological approaches to analyse the relationships between education and society, with particular reference to the transition from the rhetoric of education to those of "learnification"; 3. observe and interpret the processes of social construction of personal and collective identity.
