Credits 9

Learning outcomes

The course aims to provide knowledge and skills aimed at analysing the stress and strain state, and the structural strength and durability of machine elements. The student will learn methods for determining the acting loads, the study of stresses using simplified models (beam) and the criteria for sizing and checking machine components, subject to constant or variable loads over time (fatigue). Furthermore, the student will learn the methods for sizing and checking the most common machine elements (threaded connections, bearings, joints, gear wheels, shafts).
This knowledge will allow the student to fill junior roles in the design, verification, and qualification of machines.
