The course aims at developing general knowledge and operative skills necessary for analysing and modelling the structural behaviour of typical mechanical components (beams, membranes, plates and shells) operating in the elastic regime. At the end, the student has to demonstrate the ability to evaluate the strength, the stiffness and the stability of simple mechanical structures under static (or equivalent) loads.
