Il corso "Miti della modernità: Mallarmé e Rimbaud in Italia" mira a fornire allo studente gli strumenti per leggere la ricezione critica di due grandi modelli poetici dell'Ottocento riscoperti e compresi solo nel Novecento
The course "Fables of moderniy: Mallarmé and Rimbaud in Italy" aims to provide students tools to understand the critical reception of two great models of XIX century rediscovered and fully undestand only in XX Century
Per l'accertamento delle conoscenze saranno svolte delle attività seminariali che consisteranno nel reperire materiali e partecipare attivamente alla lettura e interprertazione dei testi presentati a lezione, poetici e non. La verifica delle conoscenze sarà oggetto della valutazione in un elaborato scritto da conosegnare una settimana prima dell'inizio di di ogni sessione d'esame. Lo studente dovrà preparare e presentare una relazione scritta di 6000-8000 battute su un aspetto del corso e su una serie di letture e materiali che andranno reperiti autonomamente, prendendo familiarità con le strutture bibliotecarie di ateneo e le banche dati informatizzate.
Assessment of knowledge will be carried out by finding materials and actively participate in reading and interpreting the texts presented in class, poetic and otherwise. The assessment of the knowledge will be the object of the evaluation in a written document to be submit two weeks before the beginning of exam session. The student will have to prepare and present a written report of 6,000-8,000 characters on one aspect of the course. Materialshave to be obtained autonomously, becoming familiar with library structures of the university and computerized databases.
Alla fine del corso o studente sarà in grado di svolgere una lettura critica di un testo, una ricerca e analisi critica delle fonti, nonché un inquadramento dell'autore della lettaratura italiana preso in esame, in relazione all'argomento del corso.
At the end of the course or student will be able to carry out a critical reading of a text, a research and critical analysis of the sources, as well as a classification of the author of the Italian readings examined, in relation to the topic of the course.
Saranno svolte attività pratiche e didattiche sia per la scrittura del saggio, sia per la ricerca delle fonti attraverso l'utilizzo di database e banche dati.
Practical and didactic activities will be carried out both for the writing of the essay, and for the research of the sources through the use of databases and databases.
Attraverso il corso lo studente potrà acquisire la capacità di approcciare un testo e un'autore con consapevolezza degli strumenti, retorici, stilisitici, ed ermeneutici offerti dalla teoria della letteratura
Attending the course the student will acquire the ability to approach a text and an author with some awareness regarding rhetorical tools offered by the theory of literature
Per accertare l'acquisizione da parte dello studente degli obiettivi stabiliti al precedente punto si valuterà il "close reading" di un testo, e la presentazione (il profilo) di uno o più autori della letteratura italiana.
To ascertain the acquisition of the objectives established in the previous point students will be evaluated trought the "close reading" of a text and trought the presentation (the profile) of one or more authors of Italian literature.
Non sono richiesti particolari prerequisiti ma per seguire il corso in modo proficuo servono abilità mnemoniche, capacità di ragionamento e comunicazione; capacità di astrazione e volontà di essere soggetto attivo della condivisione e creazione del sapere. Nozioni anche elementari in letteratura e lingua francese non sono richieste ma costituiscono un vantaggio.
No particular prerequisites are required, but in order to follow the course in a fruitful way, mnemonic skills, reasoning and communication skills, abstraction capacity and willingness to be an active subject of sharing and creation of knowledge are welcome. Even basic notions in literature and French are not required but constitute an undoubted advantage.

Il corso prevede di leggere la letteratura italiana “sub specie Mallarmé & Rimbaud”, dagli anni della scapigliatura e dal simbolismo italiano, al futurismo, fino alla prima guerra mondiale. Quindi, dal primo al secondo dopoguerra, tra cattolicesimo e comunismo; per arrivare alle spinte libertarie dei cosiddetti anni della contestazione – quando “changer la vie” diventa uno degli slogan del ’68 francese, e Mallarmé l'antesignano del pensiero negativo e il "profeta" dell'inconscio . Ampio spazio verrà dedicato alla lettura dell’opera poetica di Mallarmé e Rimbaud nelle differenti versioni italiane, con particolare attenzioni alle quelle dei traduttori-poeti.
In particolare si affronteranno i seguenti autori più o meno canonici del Novecento letterario italiano – i più noti da conoscere almeno nei loro tratti critici essenziali, o così come presentati dai manuali di storia della letteratura in uso alle scuole superiori, o (meglio) in altre opere di riferimento che verrano indicate di volta in volta a lezione. Autori: Igino Ugo Tarchetti, Gabriele D'Annunzio, Giovanni Pascoli, Benedetto Croce, Luigi Pirandello, Filippo Tommaso Marinetti, Giuseppe Ungaretti, Dino Campana, Camillo Sbarbaro, Eugenio Montale, Carlo Betocchi, Sandro Penna, Tommaso Landolfi, Attilio Bertolucci, Mario Luzi, Vittorio Sereni, Nelo Risi, Pier Paolo Pasolini, Elsa Morante, Alberto Moravia, Edoardo Sanguineti, Giovanni Testori e altri minori tra otto e novecento.(per es. Vittorio Pica, Gian Piero Lucini, Ceccardo Roccatagliata Ceccardi, Romolo Quaglino, Francesco Pastonchi)
The course aimes at reading the Italian literature "sub specie Mallarmé & Rimbaud", from the years of the scapigliatura and Italian symbolism, to the futurism, until the first world war, and than from the first to the second post-war period, between Catholicism and communism, to get to the libertarian pressures of the so-called "years of protest" 1968-1978 when "changer la vie" become one of the French '68 slogans, and Mallarmé the precursor of negative thought and "prophet" of unconscious. Ample space will be dedicated to the reading of the poetic work of Mallarmé and Rimbaud according to the different Italian versions, with particular attention for those of translators-poets.
In particular we will address to the following (more or less canonical) authors of the Italian literary twentieth century - the best known to be studied at least in their essential critical features, or as presented by the manuals of the history of literature used in high schools, or (better) in other reference works that will be indicated .

Gran parte dei materiali di studio (testi, poetici, critici e file multimediali) verranno forniti durante il corso e via via caricati sulla piattaforma moodle.
Bibliografia primaria e secondaria verranno segnalate all'inzio del corso.
Previsto l’ascolto di letture poetiche e brani musicali come parte integrante del corso.
Most of the materials (texts, poetics, critics and multimedia files) will be provided during the course and gradually loaded on the moodle platform.
Primary and secondary bibliography will be reported at the beginning of the course.
Listen to poetic readings in franch and musical pieces are integral part of the course.

I quattro romanzi vanno letti attentamente e gli autori inquadrati storicamente attingendo ai manuali di storia della letteratura italiana del novecento reperibili in biblioteca o ancor meglio attingendo da fonti come monografie e studi anche esse presenti in biblioteca.
Ricordo a tutti gli studenti che è obbligatorio presentarsi all'esame orale provvisti dei testi dei quattro romanzi e degli altri eventuali materiali studiati o utilizzati per la preparazione dell'esame

The four novels should be carefully read (in Italian) and authors framed historically, drawing from the history of twentieth century Italian literature in use in higher institutes or (preferably) from sources (monographs and studies) to be obtained autonomously and then presented for examination.
I remind all students that it is mandatory to present themselves to the oral exam provided with the texts of the four novels and any other materials studied or used to prepare the exam
La prova orale consiste in un colloquio tra il candidato e il docente, e tale prova è preceduta dall'invio di uno scritto di 6000 battute, da consegnare due settimane prima dell'esame via posta elettronica.
A writing of 6000 characters will be delivered two weeks before the exam by e-mail; the oral exam consists of an interview between the candidate and the teacher.
