"L'architettura neuronale del linguaggio. Fra concetti e grammatica".
Il corso mira ad esplorare le basi neurocognitive del processamento del linguaggio, con particolare riguardo al rapporto fra rappresentazioni semantico-concettuali e categorie grammaticali (quali le classi di parole, e.g., nomi, verbi e aggettivi) e all'interfaccia fra proprietà semantiche e tratti morfosintattici. Si prenderanno in considerazione diversi approcci sperimentali allo studio neurocognitivo del linguaggio, con particolare attenzione alla neuropsicologia cognitiva (attraverso l'analisi di deficit linguistici in pazienti afasici e affetti da demenza fronto-temporale) e alle tecniche di risonanza magnetica funzionale applicate allo studio in vivo del cervello in condizioni fisiologiche.
"The neural architecture of language: between concepts and grammar".
The course explores the neurocognitive basis of language, with particular attention to the relationships between conceptual-semantic representations and grammatical categories (such as, word classes) and the neural correlates of the morphosyntax/semantics interface. Different approaches will be considered: in particular, the cognitive neuropsychological approach, that will allow to examine case studies of brain damaged patients with linguistic deficits, and the fMRI approach, that will allow to show how neuroimaging can shed light on the 'in vivo' functioning of the brain.
