Il corso mette lo studente di fronte ai documenti e monumenti dell'antico Egitto iscritti in geroglifico nella loro realtà concreta di manufatti scritti, che dipende da supporti, materiali, scuole scribali, stile, datazione. Il corso si articolerà in lezioni fuori sede nei musei e in lezioni in aula a Pisa.
Oggetto del corso sarà lo studio di documenti/monumenti conservati nelle collezioni egizie italiane (principalmente presso i Musei Egizi di Firenze e Torino), scelti dagli studenti individualmente o in gruppo durante le lezioni fuori sede. I documenti/monumenti saranno copiati dal vivo dagli studenti durante le lezioni nel/i museo/i e poi letti e analizzati in classe.
Ancient Egyptian Epigraphy puts the student in front of the inscribed hieroglyphic documents and monuments of ancient Egypt, in their concrete reality as written artifacts, which depends on media, materials, scribal schools, style, dating. The course will be organized in off-site lessons in museums and lessons in class at Pisa.
Object of the course will be the study of documents / monuments preserved in Italian ancient Egyptian collections (mainly at the Egyptian Museums of Florence and Turin), chosen by students individually or in groups during the off-site lessons. The documents / monuments will be copied live by the students during the lessons in the museum/s and then read and analyzed in class.

Ongoing assessment to monitor academic progress will be carried out in the form of oral and written tests during off-site lessons in museums.
Essere in grado di leggere, comprendere e riprodurre in disegno testi geroglifici in originale, apprezzando le diverse carateristiche epigrafiche, paleografiche e stilistiche dei monumenti e documenti esaminati.
Students will be able to read, understand and draw hieroglyphic texts on the original monuments, paying attention to their different epigraphic, paleographic and stylistic features.

Lo studente potrà acquisire e/o sviluppare capacità di copia epigrafica dei testi, sensibilità alle problematiche epigrafiche, paleografiche e stilistiche poste dai testi egiziani sui supporti originali.
The student will be able to acquire and/or develop skills in epigraphic copying of texts, awareness of the epigraphic, palaeographic and stylistic problems in Egyptian texts on the original media.
Durante le lezioni fuori sede nei musei saranno valutate la capacità di precisione nella copia epigrafica dei testi e la sensibilità alle diverse caratteristiche epigrafiche, paleografiche e stilistiche dei testi egiziani esaminati sui supporti originali.
Lo studente dovrà aver seguito con profitto i corsi di:
- Egittologia
- Lingua egiziana
A good knowledge of Ancient Egyptian history, culture, language and hieroglyphic writing is required.
Lezioni frontali in aula e in museo. Lavoro di gruppo e individuale in aula, in museo e a casa.

Oggetto del corso saranno lo studio di documenti/monumenti conservati in collezioni egittologiche italiane, scelti dagli studenti individualmente o in gruppo durante le lezioni fuori-sede. I documenti/monumenti saranno copiati dal vivo dagli studenti nel corso delle lezioni fuori-sede in museo e poi letti e analizzati nelle lezioni in aula.

L'esame è svolto con prove in itinere sui testi copiati, letti, tradotti e analizzati sui monumenti originali in museo e una prova orale finale di discussione degli elaborati presentati.
The exam is carried out through:
- in itinere tests in class on the texts copied, read, translated and analyzed on the original monuments;
- final oral exam of the presented papers.
