Learning outcomes
Knowledge
The student who successfully completes the course will have the ability to demonstrate a specialist knowledge of public regulation of markets. He or she will be aware of strategies and main forms of regulation, especially: self-regulation, meta-regulation, risk-based regulation, regulation through standards and regulatory network.
Assessment criteria of knowledge
The student will be assessed on his/her demonstrated ability to discuss the main course contents using the appropriate terminology.

Syllabus
In the first part of the course, the lectures will address the analysis of norms for ruling and disciplining certain markets, in order to overcome or prevent any failures. In particular, will examine what is the meaning of regulation, what constitutes the failure of regulation and what are the risks associated with regulation, especially in consideration of the OECD guidelines.
In the second part of the course, we will proceed to analyze the regulation applied to certain markets, such financial markets, energy markets, electronic communications and public procurement.
