The students who complete the course successfully will be able to demonstrate a solid knowledge of the main issues related to Sociology of New Media, with particular attention to relationship between social media and the everyday life. The student will be able to understand digital media theories and look critically to building process of social capital in the network society. Their also will have the ability to present, demonstrate, and argue the research work made by principal scholars in media studies.
The student will be assessed on his/her demonstrated ability to discuss the main course contents using the appropriate terminology. During the oral exam the student must be able to demonstrate his/her knowledge of the course material and be able to discuss the reading matter thoughtfully and with propriety of expression.

The aim of the course is to illustrate the changes which are taking place in the contemporary socio-cultural scenarios and to explain the role that the digitalization of information occupies in these transformations. The analytical categories useful for understanding the technological and cultural changes in information society will be discussed. Specific attention will be paid to the effect that technological evolution has produced in the experiences of media consumption of individuals.
