Learning outcomes
Knowledge
The student who completes the course successfully will be able to demonstrate a solid knowledge of the main processes of syntax and morphology in Spanish Language and their most important historical changes. The student will be able to look critically at criteria of linguistic periodisation and will be able to analyse and define the syntax functions of clause structure.
Assessment criteria of knowledge
In the written exam (2 hours), the student must demonstrate his/her knowledge of the course material and to organise an effective and correctly written reply.

Syllabus
The course will be offer a complete overview of the structure of the Spanish language with regard to morphology and syntax. The course has both a theoretical and practical emphasis. The theoretical study will explore grammatical rules and the function of the different parts of speech (nouns, verbs, prepositions, adverbs, conjunctions, and so forth). The practical study will emphasize the analysis and composition of sentences and paragraphs in Spanish.
