Learning outcomes
Knowledge
The student who successfully completes the course will be able to demonstrate a solid knowledge of the structure and functioning of European Union and in particular of the institutional aspects of the European Union, with a specific attention to the sources of EU law and their effects on the legislations of member States and of the main aspects of the so-called "four freedoms" of the European Union, of the area of freedom, security and justice and of the competition policy
Assessment criteria of knowledge
The assessment aims to ascertain the knowledge of the student of the structure and functioning of European Union and in particular of the institutional aspects of the European Union, with a specific attention to the sources of EU law and their effects on the legislations of member States and of the main aspects of the so-called "four freedoms" of the European Union, of the area of freedom, security and justice and of the competition policy

Syllabus
The course is dedicated to the study of the structure and functioning of European Union. The general part will be focused on the institutional aspects of the European Union, with a specific attention to the sources of EU law and their effects on the legislations of member States. The special part will be focused on the main aspects of the so-called "four freedoms" of the European Union, of the area of freedom, security and justice and of the competition policy

Recommended reading includes the following works: A.M. CALAMIA Diritto dell’Unione europea. Manuale breve, Giuffrè, VII edizione, 2013; further bibliography and pertinent legislations and case-law sources will be indicated during the course.
