Conoscenze

Il corso intende avviare alla lettura di un classico come il "Don Quijote" di Cervantes attraverso l'analisi di alcuni nuclei tematici (la follia, la giustizia, l'amore, il denaro, il sogno, la letteratura) emergenti dalla sua prima e dalla sua seconda parte.
Knowledge
The student who completes the course successfully will have the hability to describe the main lines of XVIth and XVIIth Spanish theatre, and approach it and present the results in a structures way. He or she will be able to demonstrate a solid knowledge of the most important authors and works; he or she will also be able to look and describe critically the main innovation lines of the Golden Age Spanish theatre and will be aware of the main themes and subjects.

Traduzione e interpretazione dei capitoli del "Don Quijote" scelti e commentati durante il corso.
Assessment criteria of knowledge
-The student will be assessed on his/her demonstrated ability to discuss the main course contents using the appropriate terminology. -During the oral exam the student must be able to demonstrate his/her knowledge of the course material and be able to discuss the reading matter thoughtfully and with propriety of expression. -The student's ability to explain correctly the main topics presented during the course at the board will be assessed. -The student must demonstrate the ability to put into practice and to execute, with critical awareness, the activities illustrated or carried out under the guidance of the teacher during the course.

Conoscenza dei fondamenti di storia della letteratura spagnola relativa ai secoli d'oro (cinquecento e seicento).

Leggere il "Don Quijote" di Cervantes
Syllabus
The course covers the general chronological framework of Golden Age Spanish theatre, understood as Spanish theatre production from the “primitive” essays of the end of XVIth century including the great innovation made by Lope de Vega. Particular attention will be paid to Lope de Vega’s “Arte nuevo de hacer comedias” and the new themes, characters and topics that he introduced in Spanish Golden Age theatre. A part of the course will be dedicated to the literary works of Tirso de Molina, such as famous “El burlador de Sevilla”.

Durante l'esame, che si svolgerà in forma orale, lo studente dovrà dimostrare

di saper tradurre e interpretare i capitoli del "Quijote" trattati durante il corso e

di saper riferire sulle letture critiche indicate.
