Al termine del corso lo studente avrà acquisito conoscenze relative alla struttura ed al funzionamento dell'Unione europea ed in particolare degli aspetti istituzionali dell'Unione stessa, con un'attenzione specifica alle fonti del diritto EU e dei loro effetti sulle legislazioni degli Stati membri e dei profili principali delle cosiddette "quattro libertà" dell'Unione europea, dell'area di libertà sicurezza e giustizia e della politica della concorrenza.
The student who successfully completes the course will be able to demonstrate a solid knowledge of the structure and functioning of European Union and in particular of the institutional aspects of the European Union, with a specific attention to the sources of EU law and their effects on the legislations of member States and of the main aspects of the so-called "four freedoms" of the European Union, of the area of freedom, security and justice and of the competition policy
L'accertamento delle conoscenze avverrà sostanzialmente attraverso la prova orale finale.
Sara' tuttavia possibile, durante il corso, ottenere una prima verifica attraverso domande rivolte alla platea a lezione e attraverso le domande che gli stessi studenti dovessero porre durante le lezioni stesse.
Academic progress will be basically verified throughthe final oral exam.
Ongoing assessment to monitor academic progress will be carried out in the form of questions posed to the students during classes and the eventual question that the students should pose during classes.
Al termine del corso lo studente sarà in grado di svolgere una ricerca e analisi delle fonti di diritto dell'unione europea e di risolvere casi giuridici di diritto dell'Unione europea.
Students will be able to conduct research and analysis of sources of EU law and to solve EU law cases.
Saranno svolte attività pratiche per la ricerca delle fonti (ivi compresa la giurisprudenza della CGUE) attraverso l'utilizzo di noti database.
Practical activities will be carried out to search for sources through known database
Saranno acquisite opportune accuratezza e precisione nello svolgere attività di ricerca e analisi delle fonti di diritto dell'unione europea e di risoluzione dei casi giuridici di diritto UE.
Students will acquire accuracy and precision when collecting and analysing sources of EU law and when solving EU law cases
Durante il corso saranno poste domande rivolte alla platea di studenti presenti a lezione.
During classes questions will be posed to students
E' utile che lo studente abbia alcune conoscenze giuridiche di base.
It would be good if the student had basic knowledge of law.
Modo in cui si svolgono le lezioni: lezioni frontali, con ausilio di informazioni proiettate sullo schermo (ad es. quelle relative alle norme o alla giurisprudenza che si commentano), col supporto anche dei siti web.
L'interazione tra studente e docente, oltre che a lezione, avverrà attraverso i ricevimenti e l'uso della posta elettronica.
La frequenza ai corsi e' fortemente consigliata.
Delivery: face to face, with the help of information projected on the screen (such as those regarding norms and case-law commented), also with the support of web-sites.
The interaction between students and lecturer will happen also through meetings and e-mails.

Il corso e' dedicato allo studio della struttura e del funzionamento dell'Unione europea. La parte generale sara' incentrata sugli aspetti istituzionali dell'Unione europea, con un'attenzione specifica alle fonti del diritto UE ed ai loro effetti sulla legislazione degli Stati membri. La parte speciale, invece sara' dedicata agli aspetti principali delle cosiddette "quattro liberta'" dell'Unione, all'area di libertà, sicurezza e giustizia ed alla politica della concorrenza.
The course is dedicated to the study of the structure and functioning of European Union. The general part will be focused on the institutional aspects of the European Union, with a specific attention to the sources of EU law and their effects on the legislations of member States. The special part will be focused on the main aspects of the so-called "four freedoms" of the European Union, of the area of freedom, security and justice and of the competition policy

La materia può essere studiata su uno qualsiasi dei principali manuali aggiornati di diritto dell'Unione europea. In particolare si segnala il seguente:

È richiesta la conoscenza dei trattati e delle norme rilevanti richiamati nei testi consigliati e che potranno essere rinvenuti all’interno di una qualsiasi raccolta di norme e trattati dell'Unione europea reperibile in commercio oppure su Internet (ad esempio nel sito EUR-LEX).

I non frequentanti debbono attenersi rigorosamente alle indicazioni bibliografiche di cui sopra.
Per i soli frequentanti e' invece sufficiente quanto sara' detto a lezione.
Non-attending students should follow the suggestions about recommended reading specified above, in "Bibliography".
Attending students can consider sufficient what is told during classes.
L'esame è composto da una prova orale, al termine del corso.
La prova orale consiste in un colloquio tra il candidato e il docente, o anche tra il candidato e altri collaboratori del docente titolare. Durante la prova orale, oltre alla verifica sulle nozioni apprese durante il corso, potrà essere richiesto al candidato di risolvere anche questioni giuridiche applicando tali nozioni.
La prova orale non è superata se il candidato mostra di non essere in grado di esprimersi in modo chiaro e di usare la terminologia corretta, oppure se il candidato non risponde correttamente almeno alle domande corrispondenti alla parte piú basilare del corso. Inoltre, il colloquio non avrà esito positivo se il candidato mostrerà ripetutamente l'incapacità di mettere in relazione parti del programma e nozioni che deve usare in modo congiunto per rispondere in modo corretto ad una domanda.
The exam is made up of one oral test.
The oral test consists of an interview between the candidate and the lecturer, or between the candidate and the lecturer’s collaborators. During the oral test the candidate could be requested to also solve law cases.
It is not possible to pass the oral test if the candidate shows an inability to express him/herself in a clear manner using the correct terminology, or if the candidate does not respond sufficientlyat least to questions regarding the most fundamental part of the course. Moreover, the test will not have a positive outcome if the candidate repeatedly demonstrates an incapacity to relate and link parts of the programme with notions and ideas that they must combine in order to correctly respond to a question.
