The students who will take this class will know some of the main neurocognitive principles underlying language processing in the brain.

The students who will take this class will be able to address the main questions related to the interface between concepts and grammar and its neurocognitive representation.
Esame finale.

It is required to have taken (at least) one class of General Linguistics and/or Historical Linguistics ("Glottologia").
"The neural architecture of language: between concepts and grammar".
The course explores the neurocognitive basis of language, with particular attention to the relationships between conceptual-semantic representations and grammatical categories (such as, word classes) and the neural correlates of the morphosyntax/semantics interface. Different approaches will be considered: in particular, the cognitive neuropsychological approach, that will allow to examine case studies of brain damaged patients with linguistic deficits, and the fMRI approach, that will allow to show how neuroimaging can shed light on the 'in vivo' functioning of the brain.
