Al termine del corso lo studente avrà acquisito una buona conoscenza dell'armeno antico ed avrà meditato sugli aspetti linguistici e culturali discussi a lezione.
By the end of the course the student will have acquired a good knowledge of the ancient Armenian and will have meditated on the linguistic and cultural aspects discussed in class.
Dato il preveibile ridotto numero di studenti, la verifica delle conoscenze avverrà già durante le lezioni, di volta in volta.
Given the reduced number of students, the verification of knowledge will already take place during the lessons, from time to time.
Lo studente sarà ora in grado di tradurre e capire un testo redatto in armeno antico, indipendentemente dall'epoca della sua compilazione.
The student will now be able to translate and understand a text written in ancient Armenian, regardless of the time of its compilation.

Given the reduced number of students, this verification will already take place in class.
Gli studenti potranno meditare su aspetti antichi, ma anche su aspetti ancora attuali della speculazione scientifica, intesa nel senso più ampio del termine, e considerare il ruolo dello scienziato nel suo confrontarsi col passato e con le conoscenze presenti nelle culture geograficamente vicine alla sua.
Inoltre gli studenti mediteranno sull’intreccio e reciproco condizionamento di lingua, società e storia, una situazione qui esemplificata per il mondo armeno, ma valida per qualsiasi epoca e cultura.
Students will be able to meditate on ancient aspects, but also on current aspects of scientific speculation, understood in the broadest sense of the term, and consider the role of the scientist in his/her confrontation with the past and with present knowledge in the geographically diverse cultures close to him/her.
In addition, students will meditate on the intertwining and mutual conditioning of language, society and history, a situation exemplified here for the Armenian world, but valid for any age and culture.

Saper leggere un testo scritto in armeno ed orientarsi nelle strutture grammaticali di base della lingua antica.
Being able to read a text written in Armenian and orient himself/herself in the basic grammatical structures of the ancient language.
Il corso è costituito da una serie di lezioni frontali, ma si potrà chiedere agli studenti di preparare anticipatamente la traduzione di alcuni dei brani che verranno poi discussi e commentati.
The course consists of a series of lectures, but students can be asked to prepare in advance the translation of some of the passages that will then be discussed and commented.
Il corso sarà diviso in due parti:
1. Una scorribanda tra le scienze nell’Armenia medioevale.
Il modulo si propone di analizzare, a partire dalla lettura e dal commento di testi originali, la molteplice realtà delle scienze nel medioevo armeno, con particolare attenzione a quelle del “quadrivio”.
2. Una breve storia della lingua armena.
Il modulo si propone di tracciare un profilo storico della lingua armena, dalle più antiche attestazioni fino ad oggi. L’esposizione sarà accompagnata dalla lettura commentata di testi originali.
The course will be divided into two parts:
1. A raid among the sciences in medieval Armenia.
The module aims to analyse, starting from the reading and the commentary of original texts, the manifold reality of the sciences in the Armenian Middle Ages, with particular attention to those of the "quadrivium".
2. A brief history of the Armenian language.
The module aims to draw a historical profile of the Armenian language, from the oldest evidence to date.
The presentation will be accompanied by the commented reading of original texts.
La bibliografia verrà indicata nel corso delle lezioni, durante le quali verrà anche fornito il materiale didattico che si commenterà e discuterà.
The bibliography will be indicated during the lessons, during which the teaching material will be provided and the students will then comment and discuss.
Eventuali studenti non frequentanti, che non riescano a procurarsi buoni appunti del corso, sono invitati a contattare il docente per concordare con lui un programma alternativo.
Any non-attending students who cannot obtain good course notes are invited to contact the professor to agree upon an alternative programme.
L'esame sarà costituito da una prova orale, durante la quale verrà vagliato il livello di conoscenza acquisito dallo studente sia riguardo alle tematiche ed ai testi commentati in classe, sia, più in generale, riguardo all'armeno antico.
The exam will consist of an oral exam, during which the level of knowledge acquired by the student will be evaluated with regard to the themes and texts commented in class and, more generally, about ancient Armenian.
Il corso è riservato a studenti dei corsi di laurea specialistica o magistrale che abbiano già una conoscenza di base dell'armeno antico. Studenti di questi corsi di laurea che non la abbiano sono invitati a seguire il corso di Filologia armena.
Le lezioni di Filologia armena II, che inizieranno martedì 26 febbraio 2019, si terranno il lunedì, martedì e venerdì, dalle 14.15 alle 15.45 nelle seguenti sedi:
lunedì aula A1 a Palazzo Carità (Pao A1)
martedì aula B1 a Palazzo Carità (Pao B1)
venerdì aula G3 al polo Guidotti.
The course is addressed to students of master's degree courses who already have a basic knowledge of ancient Armenian. Students who do not have it are invited to attend the course of Armenian Philology.
