The course includes lectures and exercises.
During the lessons the relevant linguistic contents will be presented and some theoretical reflection on the language will be enhanced; for a better understanding of the functioning mechanisms of Romanian structures, a contrastive approach will be proposed in the context of Romance languages and, above all, Italian.
The exercises in the lettorato provide for the active participation of students and will be held mainly in Romanian; the explanation of the functional structures of the language will be accompanied and exemplified by exercises designed to improve language and communication skills (matching, completion and reconstruction of a text, identification and error correction, comprehension exercises and written and oral expression, etc.), by using educational materials that integrate also elements of history, civilization, literature and Romanian culture.
Lessons and exercises are delivered out with the help of
- handouts prepared ad hoc by the professor;
- audio and video materials;
- student receiving.
“Chiamme a’ Vicienze” // rom.
The specificities of the Romanian language have allowed scholars to propose a suggestive metaphor that, simplified, represents visually the family of Romance languages as a rich table that stands on four feet, each with its own characteristics: Italian, more conservative compared to the common Latin heritage, Spanish, with strong influences from Arabic, French, the most germanized Romance language, and Romanian, the only one with interesting influences related to Slavic languages. The study of the Romanian language will therefore allow to expand and integrate our knowledge, with surprising parallelisms on the archaic morphosyntaxes in -ora (sicil. "focora") // rom. "-uri"; in Sicilian e Neapolitan (perhaps due to influence from Spanish), the object complement of the person introduced by the prep. "A": e.g. "Call to 'Vicienze" // rom. "Pe"; with reduplication: "Chiammelo a 'Vicienze" [#Chiamalo to Vincenzo, unacceptable in Ital. standard] - but also at the most exquisitely lexical level - e.g. Ital. ant. "Esca" (Petrarch), with an identical meaning to Rome. "IASCĂ".
The course, in synergy with the lettorato and exercises, proposes:
- the course - a description of the fundamental characteristics of the morphosyntactic and lexical profile and of the Romanian language in the fieldof translation;
- the lettorato - a learning path relative to the instrumental use of the language, which aims to reach the B2 level of competence according to the Common European Framework of Reference.
