Il corso fornisce una base di conoscenze matematiche necessarie per le scienze applicate e le scienze della vita. In particolare il corso propone nozioni di probabilità e statistica, e metodi elementari di calcolo infinitesimale.
This course offers basic mathematical notions necessary for applied sciences and life sciences. In particular the course proposes the elements of probability and statistics, and elementary calculus.
Agli studenti sono offerti compiti settimanali corretti e valutati.
La verifica finale consta di tre parti:
- Test di verifica delle conoscenze di base per gli studenti che NON hanno consegnato compiti settimanali di qualita' sufficiente.
- Esame scritto basato sulla soluzione di problemi, valutato in 36-esimi, minimo necessario per la sufficienza 18.
- Breve esame orale.
The students receive weekly assignments, which are checked and evaluated.
The final exam comprises three parts:
- A test to verify the basics, which the students who attained sufficient notes in their weekly assignments can skip.
- A written exam based on the solution of problems, evaluated in 36 points: 18 are necessary to pass.
- A short oral exam.
Lo studente svilupperà la capacità di maneggiare numeri e formule, e di risolvere prolemi facendo uso degli strumenti matematici insegnati.
Students will develop the ability to handle numbers and formulas, and to solve problems employing the mathematical tools taught in the course.

Di fronte ad un problema scientifico che richieda strumenti matematici, lo studente sarà in grado di scegliere gli strumenti adatti, capirne il funzionamento, ed usarli correttamente.
When the student encounters a problem that requires mathematical tools, she will be able to choose the appropriate ones, understand how they work, and use them correctly.

Completa padronanza delle quattro operazioni aritmetiche e dell'algebra di base.
Complete mastery of the four arithemtical operations and of basic algebra.
Le lezioni saranno svolte in forma frontale con l'aiuto di lucidi. Alla fine di ogni lezione, questi saranno caricati sul sito del corso.
Gli studenti saranno invitati a risolvere settimanalmente alcuni problemi. Le soluzioni, da consegnare in forma scritta, saranno valutate.
Il docente riceverà gli studenti che lo desiderano settimanalmente. Sarà inoltre attivo un tutoraggio per recupero debiti in matematica.
La lingua del corso sarà l'italiano.
The lectures will be delivered by the teacher with the help of slides. After each lesson the slides will be uploaded to the course's website.
Students will be invited to solve a weekly list of problems. Solutions, to be handed in in written form, will be graded.
The instructor will offer weekly office hours. Moreover, for students who entered with a debit in mathematics, extra tutoring will be offered weekly.
The course will be taught in Italian.
