Al termine del corso lo studente:
- comprenderà le definizioni delle infrastrutture, le loro caratteristiche in termini economici ed il loro ruolo nello sviluppo economico;
- comprenderà il ruolo degli elementi geografici e le loro connessioni con le infrastrutture e i sistemi economici, compresi gli esiti di mercato e non (esternalità)
- avrà acquisito adeguati strumenti analitici per l'analisi delle reti (network analysis) e dei servizi di rete;
- comprenderà le motivazioni dell'intervento pubblico nella realizzazione, regolamentazione ed eventuale gestione delle infrastrutture;
- avrà acquisito i principali strumenti per la valutazione ex ante degli investimenti infrastrutturali;
- avrà approfondito le problematiche relative alle infrastrutture marittime e portuali ed i loro legami economici con i territori in cui sono localizzate.
By the end of the course students will have acquired solid knowledge about:
- the economic definitions of infrastructures, their main features and their role in economic development of regions and States;
- the techniques and tools of network analysis;
- the role of public choices and policies in investment, regulation and management of infrastructures;
- the ex-ante evalutation of investments in infrastructures (Cost-Benefit Analysis)
- the port and maritime infrastructures and the links with their hinterlands and economic regions.
Le conoscenze verranno verificate per mezzo di:
- lavori scritti individuali (project work) svolti durante il corso, presentati e discussi al docente e alla classe;
- un elaborato finale scritto ("tesina");
- una prova finale di discussione dell'elaborato e scritto e di verifica degli elementi teorici acquisiti.
Per i non frequentanti saranno proposti dei percorsi individuali di studio e di verifica, che prevedono anche l'utilizzo di testi complementari e addizionali rispetto alle risorse utilizzate nel corso.
Knowledge will be verified from the project works made by students (individually or in groups) and discussed in class and from the final exam.
Al termine del corso lo studente:
- sarà in grado di analizzare i temi principali di analisi economica delle infrastrutture;
- potrà attingere alla letteratura scientifica di riferimento e alle principali fonti informative e di dati riguardanti i mercati delle infrastrutture e dei trasporti,
- sarà in grado di leggere criticamente i documenti che compongono le linee guida (europee e italiane) per le valutazioni (Analisi costi-benefici) dei progetti di investimento infrastrutturali, nonché i documenti di valutazione stessi;
- sarà in grado di presentare i risultati dell'analisi sia in forma scritta, realizzando un report su un caso di studio riguardante uno dei temi oggetto del corso, sia attraverso presentazioni in classe e al docente;
- Potrà presentare concetti complessi in forma adeguatamente esaustiva ma sintetica.
By the end of the course the students will be able:
- to analyze the main issues regarding the economic analysis of infrastructures, understanding the most relevant scientific literature on the topics;
- to gather the relevant information and data about economics of infrastructure;
- to critically review the reports on investment evaluation (e.g. Cost Benefit analysis reports);
- to present the results of their own analysis a selected case study, both in written form (by means of a short report structured as a scientific paper) and in a public presentation to the class.

- written report on a case study chosen by the students regarding one topic of the course;

I comportamenti saranno verificati durante il corso, valutando:
I comportamenti saranno anche verificati nella prova finale d'esame, attraverso la valutazione dell'attitudine alla precisione e al rigore analitico dello studente, nonché della capacità di saper presentare concetti complessi in forma adeguatamente chiara e allo stesso tempo sintetica ed esaustiva.
Behaviors will be assessed both during the course (evaluationg the "active" attendance to the classes and the written report) and in the final exam.
L'approccio al corso è prettamente economico. E' pertanto opportuno che lo studente abbia acquisito le adeguati basi economiche presentate nei corsi di Istituzioni di Economia Politica e di Economia industriale e dei trasporti.
Sono anche richieste adeguate basi di matematica per l'analisi economica e di statistica.
Vista la natura interdisciplinare che caratterizza i settori infrastrutturali, si consiglia anche di aver acquisito conoscenze di base del diritto dei trasporti e del diritto pubblico dell'economia.
E' altresì consigliabile avere adeguate conoscenze di geografia economica e di geopolitica.
It is requested to have adeguate knowledge in economic analysis, in particular in microeconomics, macroeconomics, industrial organization and transport economics.

Può utile seguire il corso di diritto doganale e della concorrenza dei trasporti, nonché il corso di sistemi logistici e di trasporto delle merci .

E' fortemente consigliata la presenza.
Il corso si svolge attraverso lezioni frontali con l'ausilio di slides ed altri strumenti multimediali.
Verrà fatto largo uso della piattaforma di elearning del corso dove verranno forniti tutti i materiali didattici alla preparazione dell'esame e per mezzo del quale avverranno le comunicazioni docente-studente. Sarà inoltre attivato un forum di discussione per gli studenti
Si prevede di dedicare parte del corso alla presentazione di report da parte degli studenti (individualmente o a gruppi).
It is strongly advised to attend the course.
The course is organized in lectures. All the material presented will be available to the students by means of the elearning page of the course. The elearning page will be used for all the communications between teacher and students. A discussion forum will also be available.
Part of the course will be devoted to the presentations of the reports made by the students (individually or in groups).

Al fine di predisporre il percorso individuale di studio, gli studenti non frequentanti dovranno mettersi in contatto con il docente via email con un congruo anticipo rispetto alla data in cui intendono sostenere l'esame. Si consiglia di programmare tale contatto almeno un mese prima della data prevista di esame.
Essi di norma dovranno recarsi a ricevimento dove saranno loro date indicazioni specifiche e verrà predisposto un calendario di incontri utili alla verifica di conoscenze, competenze e comportamenti, come descritti sul programma.
L'esame è composto da una o più prove orali, in cui lo studente dovrà dimostrare le conoscenze e le capacità acquisite durante il corso.
La prova orale potrà essere sostituita da una esame scritto, costituito sia da domande a risposta multipla che da domande aperte. In quest'ultimo caso la successiva prova orale è di norma facoltativa e costituisce un approfondimento dei temi d'esame.
Allo studente verrà data adeguata informazione sulla tipologia di prova che dovrà sostenere.
Il corso prevede anche la redazione di un report su un caso di studio applicato, proposto dal docente o dallo studente e riguardante uno dei temi affrontati durante il corso. Vengono valutati sia il report scritto sia la presentazione.
- In the written exam (2 hours, choice of 4-5 essay questions), the student must demonstrate his/her knowledge of the course material and to organise an effective and correctly written reply. - During the oral exam the student must be able to demonstrate his/her knowledge of the course material and be able to discuss the reading matter thoughtfully and with propriety of expression. - With the oral presentation, to be made to the teacher and the other students, the student must demonstrate the ability to approach a circumscribed research problem, and organise an effective exposition of the results.
