Il corso verterà sulla sociolinguistica della lingua francese e in particolare sulla nozione di variazione sociale, al fine di consolidare l’acquisizione di elementi linguistici, lessicali e pragmatici della lingua francese, in una prospettiva contrastiva italiano/francese e fornire agli studenti strumenti teorici e analitici atti a:
- Stimolare una riflessione meta-linguistica e meta-comunicativa sulla lingua francese scritta e orale a partire dalla nozione di variazione;
- Approfondire il rapporto oralità-scrittura come continuum di pratiche, adottando un approccio analitico descrittivo a partire da trascrizioni di dati autentici (audio e audio-visivi) e traduzioni scritte (sottotitoli) di discorsi orali e interattivi tratti da corpora filmici.
The course will focus on the sociolinguistics of the French language and in particular on the notion of social variation, in order to consolidate the acquisition of linguistic, lexical and pragmatic elements of the French language, in a contrastive Italian / French perspective and to provide the students with theoretical and analytical tools for:
- Stimulating a meta-linguistic and meta-communicative reflection on written and oral French starting from the notion of variation;
- Deepening the orality-writing relationship as a continuum of practices, by adopting a descriptive analytical approach starting from the transcripts of authentic data (audio and audio-visual) and written translations (subtitles) of oral and interactive discourse taken from film corpora.
Si accede all’esame orale solo dopo aver superato le prove di Lettorato.

Studenti non frequentanti:
Relazione scritta (12/15.000 caratteri, spazi inclusi) + esame orale.
Il punteggio finale (in trentesimi) sarà attribuito secondo i criteri seguenti:
- Studenti frequentanti: esame orale: 100% (+ eventuali punti secondo il voto di Lettorato)
- Studenti non frequentanti: relazione scritta: 30%; esame orale: 70%.
Per gli studenti non frequentanti, la relazione scritta dovrà essere inviata tramite posta elettronica alla docente almeno una settimana prima della data dell’appello di esame.
L’esame consisterà in una serie di domande sul programma del corso per verificare la qualità dell’approfondimento dei temi trattati.
The oral exam can be accessed only after passing the Lettorato tests.
Attending students:
Oral report in the classroom on a topic of choice + oral exam.
Non-attending students:
Written report + oral exam.
The final score (out of 30) will be attributed according to the following criteria:
Attending students: oral report: 40%; oral exam: 60%.
Non-attending students: written report: 30%; oral exam: 70%.
For non-attending students, the written report must be sent by e-mail to the professor at least one week before the date of the exam.
The exam will consist of a series of questions on the programme of the course to verify the quality of the in-depth study of the topics covered.
Il corso prevede il raggiungimento del livello B2 del Quadro Europeo Comune di Riferimento (CECR: si veda http://www.coe.int/t/dg4/linguistic/cadre1_fr.asp) di conoscenza della lingua francese, relativamente alle competenze ricettive e produttive.
The course foresees the achievement of the B2 level of the CEFR (see http://www.coe.int/t/dg4/linguistic/cadre1_fr.asp) for the French language, as regards the receptive and productive competences.
Lo studente dovrà integrare la propria preparazione seguendo i corsi di lettorato. Il superamento delle prove di Lettorato è infatti condizione necessaria per poter registrare il voto finale.
The student will have to supplement his / her own preparation by following the lettorato. The attendance of Lettorato is in fact a necessary condition to register the final grade.

Ciclo di lezioni plenarie interattive (54 ore). Tra un incontro e un altro gli studenti svolgeranno di norma delle brevi traduzioni/trascrizioni e brevi analisi di documenti orali. Tutti i materiali discussi e distribuiti in classe saranno resi disponibili su apposito spazio online dedicato al corso all’interno della piattaforma e-learning (Moodle), dove è attivo anche un forum per approfondimenti, commenti, discussioni.
La frequenza delle lezioni è fortemente consigliata al fine di acquisire modalità di studio e di lavoro adeguate al conseguimento degli obiettivi del corso.
Cycle of interactive lectures (54 hours). Between one meeting and another the students will normally perform short translations / transcripts and short analysis of oral documents. All the materials discussed and distributed in the classroom will be made available on a dedicated online space of the course within the e-learning platform (Moodle), where there is also a forum for further information, comments and discussions.
Attendance is strongly recommended in order to acquire adequate study and work methods to achieve the objectives of the course.
Titolo de corso: La variazione sociale del francese
Il corso si suddivide in due parti. Nella prima parte, la variazione linguistica e sociale del francese è presentata a partire da una riflessione sul rapporto tra norma e uso e concentrandosi particolarmente sulle variazioni diatopica, diafasica e diastratica. Alcune varietà della lingua francese contemporanea sono dunque presentate e discusse grazie ad esempi tratti da corpora di dati orali autentici e da testi letterari e giornalistici, scritti e audio-visivi. Nella seconda parte, la riflessione si concentra sulla variazione diamesica (oralità-scrittura) come continuum di pratiche spesso ibride. In particolare, un corpus di film francesi sottotitolati in italiano verrà analizzato e descritto nel tentativo di capire come certi elementi caratteristici dell’oralità dalle particolari funzioni pragmatiche e interazionali sono trattati e trasformati nel passaggio interlinguistico della traduzione audiovisiva, ossia nel passaggio dal parlato dei dialoghi filmici della versione originale francese alla forma scritta dei sottotitoli in lingua italiana.
Course title: The social variation of French
The course is divided into two parts. In the first part, the linguistic and social variation of French is presented by starting from a reflection on the relationship between norm and use and focusing particularly on diatopic, diaphasic and diastratic variations. Some varieties of contemporary French are therefore presented and discussed thanks to examples taken from corpora of authentic oral data and from literary and journalistic written and audio-visual texts. In the second part, the reflection focuses on the diametric variation (orality-writing) as a continuum of practices in which boundaries between the forms often fade. In particular, a corpus of French films subtitled in Italian will be analyzed and described in the attempt to understand how certain peculiar elements of orality from particular pragmatic and interactional functions are treated and transformed into interlinguistic passage of the audiovisual translation, ie in the passage from the talks of the filmic dialogues in French version to the written form of subtitles in Italian.
