Il corso ha l'obiettivo di fornire agli studenti la conoscenza dei lineamenti della storia dell'arte, dell'urbanistica, dell'architettura e della cultura materiale sviluppatesi in Grecia e nel mondo ellenizzato dall'età protogeometrica (metà XI secolo a.C.) fino all'inizio dell'età augustea (30 a.C.), con cenni alla storia delle ricerche e agli approcci metodologici.
The course aims to provide students with knowledge of the features of Art history, Urban planning, Architecture and Material culture developed in Greece and in the Hellenized world from the Protogeometric age (mid-11th century BC) to the beginning of the Augustan age (30 BC), with hints to the history of research and methodological approaches.
Esame finale, con prova scritta e orale.

Al termine del corso gli studenti saranno in grado di orientarsi nel quadro storico-geografico relativo alla civiltà e alla cultura figurativa greca tra l'epoca protogeometrica e l'epoca ellenistica e di comprendere i fenomeni culturali del mondo greco alla luce della documentazione archeologica.
At the end of the course students will be able to orientate themselves in the historical-geographical framework related to the Greek civilization and figurative culture between the Protogeometric and Hellenistic periods and to understand the cultural phenomena of the Greek world in the light of archaeological documents.

Gli studenti potranno acquisire e/o sviluppare sensibilità alle problematiche inerenti i Beni archeologici, tali da consentire loro di formarsi opinioni consapevoli in relazione, ad esempio, a temi quali il restauro e la conservazione, la valorizzazione e la fruizione dei Beni archeologici.
The students will be able to acquire and/or develop sensitivity to the problems inherent in the Archaeological Heritage, such as to allow them to form informed opinions in relation, for example, to issues such as restoration and conservation, enhancement and enjoyment of the Archaeological Heritage.

Lo studio dell’Archeologia e storia dell’arte greca presuppone una buona conoscenza della Storia greca e della Geografia storica del mondo antico. Si consiglia pertanto di sostenere l'esame solo dopo aver sostenuto l'esame di Istituzioni di storia greca. La conoscenza della Geografia storica del mondo antico può essere acquisita mediante la consultazione di un Atlante storico.
The study of Greek archaeology and art history presupposes a good knowledge of Greek history and Historical Geography of the ancient world. Therefore it is strongly recommended to take the exam only after taking the examination of Institutions of Greek History. Knowledge of Historical Geography of the Ancient World can be acquired by consulting a Historical Atlas.
Gli studenti che non hanno frequentato un Liceo classico, sono vivamente consigliati di seguire il corso di Letteratura greca (per non antichisti), (CFU 12, codice 162LL) che fornisce una buona base di conoscenza dei principali autori e testi scritti in greco antico, letti in traduzione italiana.
Students who have not attended a Classical High School, are strongly advised to follow the course of Greek Literature (CFU 12, code 162LL), which provides a good basis of knowledge of the main authors and texts written in ancient Greek, read in Italian translation.
L'esame di Archeologia e storia dell'arte greca costituisce un prerequisito per sostenere l'esame di Archeologia e storia dell'arte romana.
The examination of Archaeology and History of Greek Art is a prerequisite for taking the examination of Archaeology and History of Roman Art.
Il corso prevede lo svolgimento di 36 lezioni di 90 minuti ciascuna, con proiezione di slide.
Le immagini che saranno proiettate durante le lezioni saranno a disposizione degli studenti, che potranno scaricarle dalla pagina del corso su Moodle http://polo4.elearning.unipi.it.
Sul blog di Moodle saranno caricate di volta in volta le comunicazioni docente-studenti, nonché i risultati delle prove scritte finali.
The course consists of 36 lectures of 90 minutes each, with slide projections. The images that will be projected during the lectures will be available to students, who can download them from the course page on Moodle http://polo4.elearning.unipi.it.
On the blog of Moodle will be uploaded from time to time the insructorr-student communications, as well as the results of the final written tests
Il corso presenterà una serie di monumenti e testimonianze archeologiche a partire dall'Età Protostorica (prima metà dell'XI secolo a.C.), fino all’inizio dell’età augustea e, in particolare, fino al 31 a.C. data della conquista romana dell’Egitto tolemaico, l’ultimo dei regni ellenistici ancora indipendente. Di monumenti e testimonianze archeologiche sarà fornito l’inquadramento nel contesto storico e culturale del tempo e saranno spiegate le problematiche relative alla tipologia, all'iconografia, alla funzione.
The course will present a series of monuments and artifacts from the Protohistoric Age (first half of the 11th century BC), until the beginning of the Augustan Age and, in particular, until 31 BC date of the Roman conquest of Ptolemaic Egypt, the last of the Hellenistic kingdoms still independent. Monuments and artifacts will be provided in the historical and cultural context of the time and will be explained the problems related to the type, iconography, function.

Data l'ampiezza della materia, è vivamente consigliata la frequenza delle lezioni. Quanto al programma d'esame, gli studenti non frequentanti sono tenuti a portare lo stesso programma dei frequentanti.
It is strongly recommended to attend the lessons.
Non-attending students are required to bring the same program of attending students (texts and slides).
L'esame finale consiste in una prova scritta e in un successivo colloquio orale.
La prova scritta prevede quattro domande a risposta aperta.
Chi non supera la prova scritta, è tenuto a ripeterla.
Per chi supera la prova scritta con una votazione compresa fra 18/30 e 24/30 non c'è prova orale, ma solo la possibilità di registrare il voto ottenuto nello scritto: per farlo, occorre presentarsi il giorno della prova orale; se lo studente ritiene di non accettare il risultato, deve ripetere la prova scritta.
Chi supera la prova scritta con una votazione di 25/30 o più deve sostenere la prova orale; il voto finale terrà conto del risultato della prova scritta e di quella orale. Non è obbligatorio sostenere la prova orale nello stesso appello della prova scritta: la prova scritta superata ha valore di 12 mesi.
The final examination consists of a written test and a colloquium.
If you do not pass the written test, you must repeat it.
For those who pass the written test with a grade between 18/30 and 24/30, there is no colloquium, but only the recording of the grade obtained in the written test, which must be carried out on the day of the colloquium; if the student does not accept the result, he must repeat the written test.
Those who pass the written test with a grade of 25/30 or more must take the colloquium; the final grade will take into account the result of the written test and the colloquium.
It is not compulsory to take the colloquium in the same session as the written test: the written test passed is valid for 12 months.
