Learning outcomes
Knowledge

The student will acquire knowledge about the categories of social control, globalization

and mobility from a historical and sociological point of view. 

Assessment criteria of knowledge

The students will be tested through the classroom debate and the construction of working groups on the topics of the course

Skills

The students will be able to critically address the analysis of the main forms of intertwining processes
concerning globalization and social control in contemporary society and to identify the dynamics of power and social relationships that they are enhancing.

Assessment criteria of skills

Skills  will be verified through classroom debate, commentary on video documents, and topical news

Behaviors

At the end of the modules, students will be able to analyze these processes, and to work out good practices which favour the integration of migrants through the respect of human rights.

Assessment criteria of behaviors

Verification will be entrusted to the classroom confrontation and the presentation and 
discussion of topical news

Adequate knowledge of the main sociological concepts is recommended

Teaching methods

Lessons will be of a frontal type. The course will be held by Prof. Borghini and Prof. Scalia in English language.

Slides and projected video will be used.

Syllabus

This module will make students aware of such global processes as mass migration, as well as of the demand of security which is a consequence of the moral panic triggered by such long ranging transformation.

The examination consists of written proof, which will be conducted according to the University Regulations (art. 23).

The professor will receive the student regularly during his office hour and he will be available via e-mail.

The office hour (Prof. Borghini) is on Wednesday 9.30 a.m. in Via serafini, Palazzina, first floor
