Al termine del corso lo studente avrà acquisito un quadro generale della letteratura britannica e irlandese contemporanea ed una conoscenza specifica delle modalità di significazione che pertengono alla scrittura della vita nelle forme della biografia, dell’autobiografia, dell’autobiografia finzionale. Si analizzerà soprattutto la tematizzazione della vita nel discorso letterario, sia in quanto fenomeno caratterizzante l’ambito creativo della postmodernità, sia in diretta relazione ad alcuni antecedenti di epoca modernista.
The student who completes this course will have a general knowledge of contemporary Irish and British literature and a specific knowledge of the writing of life as biography, autobiography, and fictional autobiography. In particular, the thematization of life in literary discourse will be analysed both as a trait of postmodern creativity and in direct relation to some antecedents of the modernist era.
È prevista la verifica finale delle conoscenze tramite un colloquio, che accerterà in particolare le capacità dello studente di riferire ed elaborare informazioni, interpretare testi, argomentare le proprie posizioni critiche, istituire confronti e connessioni fra testi e problematiche culturali e letterarie.
Students will participate in seminars, which will contribute to the assessment of their skills and competences.
The final oral exam will assess the student's argumentative skills and ability in discussing the critical issues analysed during the course and the seminars.
Nel corso dei seminari, lo studente, assistito nella scelta dei materiali, sarà in grado di esporre e comparare differenti interpretazioni critiche dei testi letterari presi in esame.
Durante la verifica finale, lo studente sarà in grado di stabilire connessioni fra testi e problematiche culturali di sfondo, analizzare le singole opere, confrontarle, riferire i punti di vista interpretativi dedotti dal materiale critico proposto e integrarli con contributi personali.
During the seminars, the student will discuss, compare and analyse the critical issues that emerge from literary, critical and theoretical texts. During the final exam, the student will demonstrate his/her familiarity with contemporary critical, theoretical and literary texts and will integrate his/her readings with personal contributions.
Modalità di verifica delle capacità
La verifica finale consisterà in un colloquio in italiano o, a scelta dello studente, in inglese.
Lo studente affinerà le proprie capacità espositive nell'ambito delle attività seminariali e/o durante la verifica finale; svilupperà capacità di raffronto e valutazione di prospettive ermeneutiche concorrenti; opererà collegamenti fra opere di natura letteraria e teorica, contestualizzando le interpretazioni testuali entro il quadro culturale di riferimento.
An oral examination, either in Italian or in English according to the student's choice, will be the final assessment tool. Students will demonstrate their familiarity with the literary and cultural notions addressed during the course and will be able to apply previous feedback during the final exam.
Lo studente affinerà le proprie capacità espositive nell'ambito delle attività seminariali e/o durante la verifica finale; svilupperà capacità di raffronto e valutazione di prospettive ermeneutiche concorrenti; opererà collegamenti fra opere di natura letteraria e teorica, contestualizzando le interpretazioni testuali entro il quadro culturale di riferimento.
The student will demonstrate his/her argumentative and critical skills during the seminars and the final exam; he/she will be able to compare and discuss different interpretive perspectives; he/she will be able to connect literary, cultural and theoretical issues with the cultural background.
La prova finale sarà valutata in base alla precisione dei riferimenti e alla cogenza dell'articolazione argomentativa.
The main assessment criteria will be the clarity, exactness and effectiveness of argumentation.
Non sono previsti prerequisiti specifici, se non le conoscenze di base riguardo alla cultura letteraria britannica e irlandese.
There are no specific prerequisites other than the basic knowledge of English literary culture.
Lezioni frontali. Seminari. In caso di proroga delle attuali disposizioni in materia di sicurezza sanitaria, si attueranno modalità di didattica a distanza o didattica “mista” (parte in presenza, parte a distanza).
Lecture. Seminar. If the current health safety provisions are extended, remote teaching or "blended" teaching methods (face-to-face and asynchronous remote teaching) will be implemented.
TITOLO DEL CORSO: Vita, scrittura, scrittura della vita
Il corso verte su alcune strategie di significazione della letteratura contemporanea, che utilizza modalità diverse per interpretare il nesso vita-scrittura: l’ibridazione di fact e fiction, l’autofiction, auto/biografiction l’autobiografia metaforicamente trasposta, il romanzo flusso, il false novel, la poesia confessionale… Fine del corso è esaminare le varie ridefinizioni ‘narrative’ dell’identità moderna e postmoderna.
COURSE TITLE: Life, Writing, The Writing of Life
The course focuses on the modes in which contemporary literature interprets the nexus between life and writing: the hybridization of fact and fiction, autofiction, auto/biografiction the metaphorically transposed autobiography, the flow novel, the false novel, confessional poetry... The aim of the course is to examine the various 'narrative' redefinitions of modern and postmodern identity.
