Il corso si propone di approfondire aspetti della scrittura ieratica e della cultura dell'antico Egitto attraverso la lettura e l'analisi delle fonti testuali del Nuovo Regno conservate nel Museo Egizio. L'attenzione sarà focalizzata su un testo amministrativo ieratico corsivo del periodo ramesside e su un testo religioso scritto in mano onciale. Inoltre, gli studenti riceveranno ciascuno un piccolo frammento da analizzare autonomamente durante il corso.
Saper leggere, tradurre e commentare un testo geroglifico in medio egiziano in tutti i suoi aspetti grafici, grammaticali e sintattici. La conoscenza della scrittura ieratica e della lingua neoegiziana è un vantaggio in quanto il corso segue Ieratico I.
Il corso inizierà il 3 marzo 2023 e si terrà venerdì mattina 8:30 - 13:00 ogni seconda settimana (presenza). Le date sono:

The course aims to analyze aspects of hieratic writing and ancient Egyptian culture through the reading and analysis of textual sources from the New Kingdom in the Museo Egizio. The focus will be on one cursiv hieratic administrative Text from the Ramesside Period and a religious text written in an uncial hand. Furthermore, students will receive each a small fragment to analyse on their own during the course.
Being able to read, translate, and comment on a hieroglyphic texts in Middle Egyptian in all its graphic, grammatical and syntactic aspects. Knowledge of the Hieratic script and Neo-Egyptian language is an advantage since the course follows Hieratic I.
The course will start on March 3rd, 2023 and will be held Friday morning 8:30 - 13:00 every second week (presenza). The dates are:

Saper leggere, tradurre e commentare un testo geroglifico in medio egiziano in tutti i suoi aspetti grafici, grammaticali e sintattici. La conoscenza dello ieratico e del neoegiziano è un vantaggio in quanto il corso segue lo ieratico I.
È richiesta una buona conoscenza della lingua inglese parlata e scritta.
Una certa conoscenza della lettura di italiano, francese e tedesco è un vantaggio poiché la letteratura è in quelle lingue.

The student will be able to acquire more in dept methodologies and skills suitable for the analysis and reading of hieratic texts and in the field of Philology.

The course will examine various texts written in hieratic from the New Kingdom in the Papyrus Collection of the Museo Egizio in Turin. The course focuses on administrative texts in cursive hieratic and literary text in uncial hieratic writing, such as journals and funerary texts. The list of texts with images and the relative bibliography will be provided before the start of the course. All the material to the texts read in the course and other useful tools will be made available on the E-learning platform of the course.

Final written and oral exam in English. The exam will consist of reading, the translation and commenting of passages from the hieratic texts dealed with during
the lessons. During the oral exam the homework sent to students 14 days before the exam is discussed and deepened. Tasks include the transcription and translation of a hieratic text.
