BIOTECNOLOGIE PER LA DIFESA DAI PARASSITI ANIMALI | AGR/11 | LEZIONI | 64 |
|
The student who attends the course successfully knows the main biotechnological means, the concept and implications of IPM, some important insect pests and the biotechnological methods used in their control. The student is able to deal with lab methodologies used in biotechnological research in Entomology.
The student must be able to manage the topics and to discuss critically the arguments of the course using the appropriate terminology and with a wide perspective of the problems.
The course has the goal to allow the student to face some problems related to the control of harmful Arthropod species, chosen among those prevalent in the territory, through the use of biotechnological means, with a view to problem solving
The discussion of real cases through the direct intervention of the student
The adoption of a critical vision of the problems, the evaluation of the possible solutions and the risks connected to them
Discussione in aula delle problematiche presentate
Discussion during the lectures of the problems presented
None, even if the knowledge of general principles of Entomology is an obvious help.
Delivery: face to face
Learning activities:
Attendance: Advised
Teaching methods:
The course has a first part in which general informations on the Class of Insects are given (morphological, physiological and systematic features of the group). The main biotechnological methods of control are analised (techniques, production, possible future developments) and their application in insect control is described.
In details:
Tutorials: The main groups of insects with in-depth analysis of some issues of particular interest applied. Methods of study of semiochemicals. Bioassays for the evaluation of the effectiveness of insecticide products and resistance to insecticides; Use of molecular biology techniques applied to entomological diagnostics. Use of insects in human medicine.
