Learning outcomes
Knowledge

The student will acquire basic knowledge on current legislation, the skills of the territorial levels of government, the planning tools and administrative procedures with which public institution aim to prevent, reduce and mitigate georisks and to promote a sustainable use of georesources.

Assessment criteria of knowledge

During the discussion in the classroom and during the oral exam, the student's knowledge of the subject will be verified, with particular attention to the ability to orient themselves in the regulatory framework and administrative procedures with which public institutions aim to prevent, reduce and mitigate georisks and promote a sustainable use of georesources.

 

Skills

At the end of the course, the student will understand the complexity of the regulatory framework and administrative procedures in the field of prevention, reduction, mitigation of georisks, selecting the appropriate rules inherent to the case studies.

Assessment criteria of skills

During the lectures, case studies are presented to help the with the consultation of regulatory framework and related administrative procedures.

Behaviors

The skills learned will allow the student to identify the relevant regulatory framework and the administrative tools in the various areas of georisks.

Assessment criteria of behaviors

The demostration of appropiate behavior will be assessed throughout the duration of the course. Specifically, the participation in the classroom, the proposal of topics for discussion, the ability to analyze case studies will be positively evaluated.

 

Prerequisites

Given the introductory nature of the course, no specific prerequisites are required. 

Syllabus

The course aims to privde students with the fundamental understanding of the regulatory framework on the competences of the territorial levels of government, the planning tools and administrative procedures with which public institutions aim to prevent, reduce and mitigate georisks and to promote a sustainable use of georesources.

In particular, topics will include:

- General framework of the discipline

- Elements of Public Law

- Italian legislation on the prevention, management, mitigation of georisks

- Emergency management and the role of "Protezione civile"


- Hydrogeological risk, Seismic risk, The volcanic risk: regularoty framework


- Legislation on the sustainable use of georesources, in particular for water and energy resources.

Assessment methods

The final exam is oral. During the exam, the student's knowledge will be asessed through the presentation of topics covered in the course and additional topics agreed with the teacher.
